Heraklion, Crete

We're here in the capital and largest city of Crete - Heraklion. Steve is at the Hotel Atrion entrance. Here is the view from our hotel room window - close to the sea if you lean out and look left. The view looking straight ahead. This is a portion of Heraklion's ancient city walls. Under the walls. This seaside fort was built by the Venetians. The Lion Fountain in one of the city squares. I think this is one of the administrative city buildings. A familiar sight in Greece - the kiosk. Another familiar sight - everyone is at the cafe in the evenings - still early when this photo was taken. In the evening, we were driven way up in the hills to arrive at Arolithos where we were entertained by this group of folk dancers.
