The afternoon began with a trip to the Spice Bazaar, an ancient landmark of the city.

Some candy and tourist items, but mostly just spices - all you could ever want, and more.

Needless to say, it was crowded, mostly tourists at that time of day. We also visited the Grand Bazaar, but I didn't have room for my camera in my small bag.

A trip on the calm and peaceful Bosporus followed. Earlier in the week we saw many tankers and other commercial ships waiting in the Sea of Marmara to travel up to the Black Sea, but they might be limited to night-time hours, as we saw only pleasure ships on this short cruise.

Leaving the dock.

Every part of this crowded city is used - there are even shops and cafes under the bridges.

This is one of the bridges that connects the Asian and European sides of Istanbul.

A closer look at that fort on the hillside.

Some of the beautiful homes along the shore.

And lots of apartment buildings for the lesser folk.

This was the summer palace of the Sultans. a break from the bustle of the Topkapi.

A mosque on the shore, with a high-rise going up in the background.

The farewell dinner followed, where we were given our own personal protection against the evil eye. Mine is now hanging over my computer.
