Acropolis

This is the Acropolis of Athens, taken from a street below. This view of the Acropolis was taken from the Internet - a lovely view of the entire hilltop, which I could not hope to photograph myself. As we climbed up the hill, this was the first structure we stopped at - the Odeon Theatre, still used today for special performances.
This is the Propylaea (entrance) to the Acropolis. Actually the picture is of the opposite side, or exit.Here's Steve, in front of the Parthenon. On the right is some scaffolding for repairs. The Elgin Marbles which we saw in the British Museum a few years ago were taken from the top of the Parthenon and other sites on the Acropolis. This is the Erechtheum, with the porch of the Caryatids on the left.This grand temple can be seen from the Acropolis. I think this is one of the loveliest sights in Athens.
