The town of Ribe, located in Jutland, is said to be the oldest city in Scandinavia, founded according to their town history between 704 and 710 AD. Ribe will celebrate its 1300th anniversary in 2010, and they are proud of their Viking
heritage. below are pictures of the Viking Center, and this museum recreation is actually located near the original settlement site, which eventually grew into the town of Ribe. I pulled these photos off the Internet, because all mine were lost.
The barn below was HUGE! And yes, the roof did curve like that.
Vikings were everywhere!
Here is a weaver at work using a simple card loom, with dyed wool hanging from the shed timbers.
This little picture is similar to one I took of a girl doing handwork called "naalbinding", a kind of knotted finger-weaving. She was making round hats using this technique.

That looks like a fascinating place to visit. It's easy to forget that the Vikings lived everyday lives between the raiding, war, and pillaging!
