Fabulous Fjord

One of the highlights of the whole Scandinavia trip was this cruise up the Lysefjord. Here you can see our boat approaching. This was actually a ferry which carried vehicles as well as people. I think the trip took about 1-1/2 to 2 hours. The lower portion of the fjord was edged with relatively low hills - they got progressively higher as we went along. A waterfall tumbles from the cliff top to the green water below. This isolated farm was situated in a relatively level field between cliffs. The fjord ends rather abruptly at a narrow valley between high cliffs.
This is the dock at the end of the fjord. Our coach awaits on the right. We traveled from here up a steep winding road to the top of the cliffs - stay tuned.

Beautiful. It looks like fairy tale country.
Did you ever read/see The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy? So funny. A character named Slartibartfast designs planets, and what he liked creating best was fjords-"lovely crinkly edges." He won an award for Norway! :-D
